Studio Policies - Video Lessons

The following are the policies by which Piano Ecademy offers video piano lessons from 2024 onwards. Please read through this document carefully, as it contains relevant information about the lesson agreement. For any questions, contact the teacher to discuss.

1. Policy agreement and amendments

Piano Ecademy reserves the right to amend its policies at any time. By invoice payment, the students declare they agree with the policies in place.

2. Policy Version Control

The latest policy can be found online https://pianoecademy.mymusicstaff.com.

3. Teacher Responsibilities

The teacher will provide a musically holistic education tailored to the student’s goals and aspiration to the best of her ability.

The preferred lesson delivery method is via pianoecademy.bit.ai

Lessons will be prepared during the timeslot booked by the student (see 4. Student responsibilities) and will not exceed 2 hours of preparation.

Office hours are from Monday to Friday, 8AM - 5PM AWST during teaching weeks and makeup weeks. Any communication received outside these times and/or during studio closures may not be responded to until the next teaching day.

4. Student Responsibilities

Students are responsible to adhere to the studio policy.

Students should have an instrument to practice on, preferably a good-quality acoustic piano or a digital piano with weighted keys. Keyboards with unweighted keys are unfortunately not appropriate for learning and can instil bad habits. The teacher is happy to help any student choose an appropriate instrument!

Students are responsible for booking the lesson preparation time using the provided calendar.

Prior to booking the lesson, the student commits to filling out the provided Google form with lesson materials, including videos for the teacher in order to receive feedback.

If the student does not fill out this Google form OR if they do not provide the requested materials, the teacher will not be able to deliver the lesson. If a lesson has been booked, this lesson may be cancelled.

For any videos provided, the maximum combined time of video and audio recordings is 15 minutes. If the student provides over 15 minutes worth of materials, the teacher will only provide feedback on the first 15 minutes.

Students agree with the office hours as specified in section 3 and understand that communication may be delayed if they contact the teacher outside these times.

5. Lesson Booking

Piano Ecademy provides a lesson calendar for students to access via My Music Staff.

The teacher reserves the right to close off any days and times unavailable for lessons due to leave or other engagements.

Due to the studio teaching schedule, there is a limit of max. of 3 lessons per month per student. Lessons are booked on a first-come, first-serve basis. Students may only book 1 lesson at a time. Piano Ecademy makes no guarantees as to the availability of bookable lesson slots.

6. Tuition costs and payment

Upon registering for video lessons, the student is required to provide credit card details that will be charged automatically upon invoicing.

The lesson will be invoiced on the day of the lesson booking. The invoice must be paid via autopay and prior to the scheduled lesson preparation time. If no payment is received, the booking will be cancelled and the student will be required to book a new time.

Lesson cost is 195AUD / lesson, including GST.

All prices in AUD. Prices are revised regularly; please contact the teacher for the latest prices.

7. Lesson Materials and Availability

The student will receive their lesson link via email to their nominated email address as per their booking form. Lesson materials will be hosted on pianoecademy.bit.ai. The lesson will be available for 30 days. After 30 days, the lesson link will expire and the student will no longer be able to access the lesson.

Any provided materials, including videos and other assets, are copyright protected. They are strictly for personal use only and may never be shared under any circumstance.

8. Lesson Cancellations

Lessons may be cancelled up to 24 hours prior to the booked timeslot to be eligible for a refund. Any lesson cancellation less than 24 hours prior to the booked timeslot will NOT be refunded.

9. Teacher Cancellation

Should the teacher need to cancel for any reason, the lesson will be refunded.

10. Discontinuation of lessons

If the student wishes to discontinue lessons they must provide notice by email.

11. Communication and getting in touch

Students will receive a login for the student portal upon receipt of first payment. Students will preferably use the student portal for all communications with the teacher.
